Staff Sergeant Theodore A. "Ted" Aiken, 59, a resident of Warwick, RI passed away Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010 at Rhode Island Hospital.
He was the beloved husband and best friend of Denise M. (Diamonte) Aiken. He was born on 30 May 1951 in Los Angeles, CA, a son of the late Francis C. and Olive T. (Dupre) Aiken.
Ted was a member of the Campus Police for CCRI, Liston Campus, for the past 20 years and was the co-owner of the former Winsor Bar in Arctic for 20 years. He was a member of the Crompton Veterans Organization; the VFW Langevin Post #449, enjoyed golfing, playing cards, darts, riding his Harley Davidson and was an avid Patriots fan.
He enlisted in Company D, 19th Special Forces Group (Airborne) RIARNG on 9 July 1970. He was a radio operator (05B4S). He was a qualified parachutist and Special Forces soldier. On 8 July 1977 he was honorably discharged from Company C, 5th Battalion, 20th Special Forces Group (Airborne), RIARNG
Besides his wife he leaves five sisters, Barbara Hotaling, Eileen Buckspan, Melody Goellner, Michelle Seymore and Lisa Medrano; a brother, Thomas Parker; a step-son, Derick Gough; a sister-in-law, Debra Cunningham; dear friend of Penny Rowan; several nieces, nephews and many friends and his beloved dog Coby. He was the brother of the late Noreen Aiken.
His funeral was held on 5 November 2010. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in St. Mary Church, Church St. West Warwick. Interment followed with military honors in the parish cemetery.
