MAJ Christopher Miller


 

MAJ (Ret) Christopher Miller passed away unexpectedly at his home on Staten Island, on January 17, 2019 at age 55. Formerly of Angola, NY, Loving father of Erica (P.J.) Foley, Brandon and Cody Miller and three grandchildren. He joined the NYPD raising to the rank of Detective Investigator with the Counter Terrorism Division before retiring in 2007. Post retirement, Chris worked for the Wexford Group - CACI, a large DoD and DHS contractor.

Chris enlisted in the USMC in 1984 and served as an Infantryman until he was honorably discharged in 1987. He had a break in service until he enlisted in the 310th MP Bn USAR in 1991. Chris was commissioned a 2LT in the USAR in 1994. After completion of MI OBC, he served with the 404th and 450th CA Bns where he completed the CA Advanced Officer Course. He joined Co A/2/19th SFGA in 2000 where he completed the Infantry Officer Advanced Course and Basic Airborne Course. He transferred to the 42nd Inf Div USAR in 2004 and deployed to Iraq in 2005 where he worked in the north as a Kurdish Democratic party LNO.

He joined Special Operations Detachment – Global RIARNG in 2006 where he served as an Intelligence officer. While there he deployed in support of SOCSOUTH, serving as an Intelligence Officer. He extended his deployment to serve for two years as the SOC-Forward Operations Officer at the U.S. Embassy, Bogota, Colombia. Chris deployed to Afghanistan in 2010 as a civilian contractor and worked as a JIEDDO LNO to CJSOTF AP. Chris earned a BS in Criminal Justice from City College NY and was working on a MS in Strategic Intelligence from American Military University, VA.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, FEBRUARY 2, 2019 AT 10:00 AM, in Most Precious Blood Church, 22 Prospect St. Angola, NY. Military Honors followed Mass.
