SGM Karl D. Stillwell


Sergeant Major Karl D. Stillwell was born on 2 December 1936.
He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on 8 December 1953 and served as an aviation radio operator. He was discharged with the rank of Sergeant on 7 December 1956.
He re-enlisted in the USMC on 7 January 1957 and served until his discharge as a Staff Sergeant on 21 December 1962.
He enlisted in Company D, 19th Special Forces Group (Airborne) RIARNG on 1 March 1966.
Karl was employed by the Rhode Island Army National Guard first as a full-time Administrative-Supply Technician with Special Forces and later as a logistician with the United States Property and Fiscal Office. He retired as the Sergeant Major of Company C, 5th Battalion, 20th Special Forces Group (Airborne) RIARNG on 31 January 1978.
Karl died of cancer at his home in Danielson, CT on 4 February 1998.
